Cool Time Lapse Videos #2

Continuing from my previous post on the subject, here are two other very nice videos (actually still camera shots merged together).

The first combines the movement of the ocean waves along Australia’s coast with the movement of stars at night. Makes me wish I was at some of these locations right now to try out the technique myself.

The second video comes from the Canary Island off North Africa’s west coast. The movement of clouds is just amazing. Especially the shot where it flows like a river over a mountain ridge. Reminds me a bit of  clouds in Thompson’s Pass in Alaska.

Cool Timelapse Videos

Below are a couple of very interesting timelapse videos, created using still camera shots, an automated dolly system, and in some cases an astronomical mount to keep in step with the motion of stars over several hours times.

The first is my favorite and involves successive 30 second exposures of the Milky Way at night over a 2-3 hour period. I think the video speaks for itself.

Oh and both videos are recorded in HD, so go full screen and enjoy.

Video #2 is from the eruption of a volcano in Iceland in 2010. Considering the photographer only had a couple of days of good weather, makes it all the more amazing.

At some point I am going to have to work out the finer details of this technique and try it out somewhere in the Desert Southwest.
